#5: Drink filtered water
Water, the elixir of life, is indispensable to our existence, permeating every aspect of our being with its vital essence. As the very foundation of all living organisms, its significance cannot be overstated. From sustaining cellular functions to regulating body temperature, water is the cornerstone of human health and vitality.
However, not all water is created equal, and the quality of our hydration directly impacts our well-being. If you aren’t drinking filtered water from a high-quality filtration system, this needs to change immediately. Chemicals like chlorine found in tap water are gut-wrenching and should be avoided at ALL costs. You should not only be thinking about the water you consume, but the water you are using on your skin such as in the shower and from faucets, as well as the water you are using to cook with!
Regarding reducing general chemical exposure, please see the below guide from Doctor David Perlmutter:
-
Support local farmers who know exactly what goes into their crops and what they are feeding their animals. Avoid pesticides and herbicides at all costs. The future of a healthy and sustainable America is rooted in local farming!
-
Minimize the use of processed and prepared foods. Processed foods are more likely to contain artificial ingredients like additives, preservatives, colorings, and chemical-based flavors. Cook as many things from scratch as possible, and do not use nonstick pans or cookware. Teflon-coated wares contain perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which the EPA has labeled a likely carcinogen.
-
DO NOT MICROWAVE PLASTIC, and avoid microwaves in general. If necessary, microwave in glass.
-
Avoid storing foods in plastic containers and plastic wrap made with PVC.
-
Ditch plastic water bottles, and embrace food-grade stainless steel or glass.
-
Ventilate your home and install HEPA air filters if possible. Be sure to change your air conditioning and heating filters every 3-6 months to produce the best air quality possible. Avoid any air deodorizers and plug-in room refreshers.
-
Reduce toxic dust and residues on surfaces by using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. You may not see or smell these residues, but they can come from furniture, electronics, and textiles.
-
When it comes to common household goods like toiletries, deodorant, soaps, and beauty products, toss your old products and look for genuine USDA organic seals and choose products that are safe and natural. Most of the products.
-
Keep as many plants in your home as possible that naturally detoxify the environment, such as spider plants, aloe vera, chrysanthemums, Gerber daisies, Boston ferns, English ivies, and philodendrons.
